Kundapur: Fire breaks out at boat manufacturing unit, Rs 5 lac loss reported

Kundapur, Jan 8: A fire accident was reported at a boat manufacturing unit near the Arate bridge in Hosadu village, Kundapur taluk, on Wednesday, causing an estimated loss of around Rs 5 lac.

The incident occurred at the boat construction yard owned by Prakash Acharya. According to sources, the fire broke out while welding work was underway on a newly constructed boat in the afternoon. Sparks from the welding reportedly fell on plywood, causing the fire to spread rapidly to the boat.

Fire and emergency services personnel from Kundapur rushed to the spot immediately after being alerted and managed to bring the blaze under control. Their timely action prevented the fire from spreading to other boats kept at the unit.

Assistant fire officer K L Hosaritti led the firefighting operation, assisted by senior firefighters Keshav Kulal and Satish Shenai, along with personnel Dhanush Gowda, Idirish Mohammed Shafi and driver Sachin. Local residents and workers of the unit also extended support during the operation.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
