Kadaba: Case registered over alleged assault and caste-based abuse at bar

Kadaba, Jan 19: A case has been registered at Kadaba police station following a complaint alleging assault, caste-based abuse and criminal intimidation at a bar and restaurant in Kadaba village.

According to the complaint, Jagadish (28), a resident of Palthadu village in Kadaba taluk, stated that on January 16, between around 10 pm and 10.30 pm, he had gone to Surabhi Bar and Restaurant located at Kalara in Kadaba village. After finishing his meal, while he was standing near the cash counter, his acquaintances identified as Ajay, Baby and Anil allegedly picked up a quarrel without any provocation.

The complainant has alleged that the accused abused him by referring to his caste and assaulted him by hitting his cheek, head, shoulder and back with their hands. He further stated that they also issued death threats during the incident.

Based on the complaint, Kadaba police have registered a case under Crime No. 08/2026, invoking Sections 115(2), 352 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with Sections 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015. Further investigation is underway.
