Nawazuddin Siddiqui joins Sohum Shah in Tumbbad 2 sequel

Mumbai, Mar 3: There is good news for fans awaiting updates on the sequel to the 2018 folklore hit Tumbbad. Actor-producer Sohum Shah on Monday announced that veteran actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has joined the cast of Tumbbad 2.

Written and directed by Adesh Prasad, the sequel is being produced by Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios.

Sharing the update on Instagram, Sohum Shah posted two pictures with Nawazuddin Siddiqui against a Tumbbad backdrop and wrote, “We are pleased to announce that one of the finest actors of our time, @nawazuddin._siddiqui, has joined #Tumbbad2. Welcome, Nawaz bhai! :) (sic).”

While the announcement has sparked excitement, details about Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s role in the film are being kept under wraps. An official update on his character and the release date is yet to be made.

Fans flooded social media with enthusiastic reactions. “Going to be CRAZXY (sic),” wrote one user, while another commented, “This is gonna be epic (sic).” Several users also inquired about the film’s release timeline.

Earlier in September 2025, Sohum Shah had announced his collaboration with Pen Studios, led by Dr Jayantilal Gada, for the next chapter in the Tumbbad universe. He had described the project as a promise to push creative boundaries and deliver an unforgettable cinematic experience.

On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was last seen in Netflix’s Raat Akeli Hai alongside Radhika Apte, Chitrangda Singh and Deepti Naval. Sohum Shah was last seen in the silent comedy film Uff Yeh Siyapaa opposite Nushrratt Bharuccha and Nora Fatehi.
