Kochi, March 10: The much-acclaimed Konkani feature film Bapache Putache Navim (BPN) made its highly anticipated Kerala debut on Sunday , March 8 at BTH, Darbar Hall Road.
Organised by the P G Kamath Foundation, the premiere was met with a heartfelt reception from the local Konkani community and distinguished cultural leaders.
Among those in attendance were K Unnikrishnan, former chairman of the Kerala Cartoon Academi; Dr Poorananda Chari, president of the Goa Konkani Akademi; Sahitya Akademi award winners Dr Sharachandra and Jayanthi Naik; and co-operative visionary Sanna Kumar Prabhu.




Speaking after the screening, Sanna Kumar Prabhu lauded the film for its deep social relevance, noting that the movie serves as a mirror to the widening rift between generations and the tragic incidents often reported in modern media.
He observed that the film beautifully portrays the shifting dynamics between parents and children as they transition into adulthood and professional life, while also poignantly capturing the complexities that arise within a family after a parent remarries.
Prabhu praised the director’s meticulous attention to detail, specifically highlighting the spot-on casting, evocative music, and excellent cinematography. He concluded by stating that the film is a must-watch for the youth and expressed his hope for a second screening in Kochi during the upcoming school summer holidays.
Director Stany Bela expressed his sincere gratitude to the audience for their overwhelming affection and support for Konkani cinema.
In response to the positive reception and the request to reach younger viewers, he announced that BPN will return for additional screenings in the months of April and May, with shows planned in both Kochi and Alleppey.
