Bengaluru, Mar 12: Actor Rashmika Mandanna has responded to reports about an alleged audio clip circulating on social media, stating that it appears to be from a private conversation that took place nearly eight years ago and warning that sharing such content could lead to legal action.
The controversy began after an alleged audio recording, reportedly involving a conversation with a member of Rashmika’s family, began circulating widely online. The clip is said to contain remarks related to her past relationship with actor Rakshit Shetty. However, the authenticity of the recording has not been independently verified.

In a statement posted on X, Rashmika said the conversation appears to have been recorded and circulated without the knowledge or consent of those involved. She also noted that only a small portion of the conversation seems to have been clipped and shared online, which may have led to the content being taken out of context.
The actor revealed that over the past eight years she has faced misinformation, harassment and targeted attacks from a section of the media and individuals on social media. She added that several remarks attributed to her had either been misinterpreted or completely fabricated, leading to narratives that spread widely on digital platforms.
While she said she had chosen to remain patient and silent despite the distress caused by such incidents, Rashmika stated that the developments in the last 24 hours had crossed a line she could no longer ignore. She also expressed concern that the situation had caused unnecessary discomfort to her family members and close associates who had no connection to the matter.
Calling the circulation of the clip misleading and defamatory, the actor requested media platforms, influencers and individuals sharing the content or related narratives to remove them immediately. She warned that those continuing to circulate the material have been given a 24-hour window, failing which legal action will be initiated.
Rashmika also questioned the timing of the clip’s circulation, noting that it surfaced amid recent developments in her personal life. She said the decision to speak publicly was not taken lightly but had become necessary to protect her dignity, privacy and peace.
She concluded her message with a short note in her native Kodava Takk language, extending heartfelt wishes to everyone. The post also included an image from her Hyderabad reception outfit that featured an embroidered Kodava cultural symbol, reflecting her connection to her roots.
Rashmika recently married actor Vijay Deverakonda on February 26, 2026, in Udaipur in a ceremony attended by close friends and family. The couple later hosted a grand reception in Hyderabad for colleagues from the film industry.
