Mumbai, Mar 28: After the strong box office run of Dhurandhar 2 in March, April is set to witness a major clash as Bhooth Bangla starring Akshay Kumar will go head-to-head with the theatrical release of Drishyam 2 featuring Mohanlal on April 10, 2026.
‘Bhooth Bangla’, a horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan, marks the reunion of the popular Akshay Kumar–Priyadarshan duo after 14 years since Khatta Meetha. The film also brings back a strong comic ensemble including Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, and Manoj Joshi, with Tabu reuniting with the director after nearly 25 years. The film revolves around a haunted mansion, blending horror, comedy, and thriller elements, making it one of the most anticipated releases.

On the other hand, ‘Drishyam 2’, directed by Jeethu Joseph, is set for a theatrical release after originally premiering on Amazon Prime Video in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic. The film, part of the widely acclaimed ‘Drishyam’ franchise, follows the gripping story of Georgekutty and his family as they once again get entangled in a criminal investigation.
While fans had long demanded a theatrical release for ‘Drishyam 2’, its arrival now sets up a direct box office battle with ‘Bhooth Bangla’. Meanwhile, the third instalment, Drishyam 3, has been postponed to May 21, 2026, from its earlier April release date.
With ‘Dhurandhar 2’ still enjoying strong audience response and no major Hindi releases in between, the April 10 clash is expected to be crucial. While ‘Bhooth Bangla’ could mark a significant comeback for Akshay Kumar in the comedy genre, ‘Drishyam 2’ carries strong expectations ahead of its sequel.
The coming weeks will reveal whether audiences lean towards a light-hearted horror-comedy entertainer or a gripping crime thriller.
