Mumbai, Apr 16: Television icon and politician Smriti Irani recently treated herself to a delightful spread of traditional Bengali sweets, sharing a playful moment with her followers on social media.
Posting a picture of an indulgent dessert platter, she captioned it with a lighthearted note: “When the mishti calls you … literally & says loudly… Khene,” capturing her love for the iconic sweets.
The tray featured an assortment of authentic Bengali sweets, including creamy servings resembling Mishti Doi or baked rasgulla at the center. Surrounding them were delicately crafted pieces of Sandesh in soft pink and white hues.

Also included were coconut-based laddoos made with Nolen Gur, lightly coated with sugar, along with a piece of Kaju Barfi completing the tempting spread.
Bengali sweets are widely celebrated across India for their delicate textures and use of simple yet rich ingredients, making them a favorite among dessert lovers.
Smriti Irani, who has spent over two decades in the entertainment industry, rose to fame with her portrayal of Tulsi Virani in the iconic television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which first aired in 2000. Her on-screen pairing with Mihir, played by Amar Upadhyay, became one of television’s most beloved duos.
After an eight-year run on the show, she emerged as one of the highest-paid actresses of her time. She is now seen reprising her iconic role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2, which premiered in August 2025, rekindling nostalgia among fans.
