Mumbai, Apr 17: Bhooth Bangla, the much-awaited horror-comedy starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, has hit theatres and is already generating buzz about its OTT release.
According to media reports, the film’s digital rights have been acquired by Netflix, although an official confirmation from the makers or the platform is still awaited. If it follows the current trend of a 45 to 60-day theatrical window, the film is likely to premiere online around June or July.
At the box office, the film has made a promising start, collecting Rs 7.49 crore across 9,470 shows on its opening day. Paid previews on April 16 added Rs 3.50 crore, taking the total India gross collection to Rs 13.04 crore, with net collections estimated at Rs 10.99 crore.

With no major competing releases apart from Dhurandhar 2, the film is expected to witness stronger numbers over the weekend.
The movie marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after nearly 14 years, rekindling their successful collaboration known for hits like Hera Pheri and Garam Masala. The film also features a strong ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, along with Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu and Mithila Palkar.
Bhooth Bangla revolves around a haunted mansion filled with mystery, black magic and chaotic family drama, blending humour with supernatural elements in Priyadarshan’s signature style.
