Panaji, Jul 9: Three fishermen were rescued after their canoe capsized in a river near Morjim beach in North Goa, officials said on Thursday.
The incident occurred around noon on Wednesday. A local resident alerted Drishti Marine, the Goa government-contracted agency responsible for lifeguard and beach safety services, following which a rescue operation was launched.

A jet ski was deployed to the spot, and rescue personnel pulled two fishermen out of the water, while the third was safely assisted onto an accompanying canoe.
Officials said all three fishermen were rescued safely.
Goa is currently experiencing the peak of the southwest monsoon, with strong winds, rough seas and turbulent waters making the coastline unsafe. Swimming remains prohibited at beaches across the state during the monsoon season, while a seasonal ban on fishing is also in force.
Drishti Marine said it has deployed more than 450 lifesavers and beach marshals across major beaches, waterfalls and four inland water bodies in Goa to respond to emergencies during the monsoon.
