New Delhi, Aug 5: Delhi Traffic Police created a special Green Corridor to ensure the swift transfer of a liver transplant patient from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, enabling the patient to catch a flight to Hyderabad for an urgent surgery.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday evening for a patient identified as Chauhan, who required immediate transportation to the airport for a critical liver transplant procedure scheduled in Hyderabad.

According to Delhi Traffic Police, information about the requirement for a Green Corridor was received around 4.30 pm. Personnel from the Traffic Circle, Karol Bagh, immediately initiated coordinated arrangements to ensure the ambulance's uninterrupted movement.

Head Constable Sunny established contact with liaison officer Tarun and created a dedicated WhatsApp group to facilitate real-time communication among all officials involved in the operation.

Head Constables Hemraj and Sukhvinder escorted the ambulance on motorcycles, clearing the route ahead, while HC Mahender Singh regulated traffic along the designated corridor. Constables Pradeep Nain and Pankaj continuously monitored traffic conditions and coordinated with different traffic circles to prevent congestion.

Despite heavy evening rush-hour traffic in the national capital, the ambulance covered the nearly 20-km distance from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to IGI Airport's Terminal 4 in just 20 to 22 minutes.

The timely transit enabled the patient to board the scheduled flight to Hyderabad for the life-saving liver transplant surgery.

The patient's family expressed gratitude to the Delhi Traffic Police, stating that the prompt and coordinated response played a vital role in ensuring the patient's timely medical transfer.

Earlier this year, Delhi Traffic Police had created another Green Corridor during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, helping transport injured Delhi Capitals cricketer Lungi Ngidi from Arun Jaitley Stadium to a hospital in just 11 minutes.
