Dubai, Mar 25: St Mary’s Konkan Community (SMKC) Dubai will present the most awaited evening of the year - “Grand Konkan Showers 2012 - Wilfy Nite' April 27 at Al Nasr Leisureland Ice Rink, Dubai from 5.30 pm, on the occasion of SMKC's tenth anniversary.
To cherish the legacy left behind by famous Konkani legend, the late Wilfy Rebimbus, popularly known as 'Konkan Kogul', SMKC, Dubai is all geared up for the decennial celebration, by inviting the late legend's troupe from Mangalore, comprising of 12 members.
The members include ‘Konkan Myna’ Meena Rebimbus, Veena Rebimbus Pais, Vishwas Rebimbus, Prem Lobo, 'Konkan KalaShree' Claud D’Souza and Babita Pinto, along with Peethambaran and the popular music director duo Pappan and Joswin Pinto who have been associated with the legend since long. Accompanying them will be ace comedian Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla) and Melwyn Dalmeida (Mellu) who will add a dose of humour to the evening. “Ocean Kids” under the leadership of Vinod Sequeira will enthrall the crowd with exotic dances that will complement the songs sung by the popular troupe. The whole show will be compered by 'Compere beyond Compare' Leslie Rego.

It has not only served the poor and the needy but also revived Konkani culture, language and heritage through its various programmes, even as it has endeavoured to showcase most of the renowned Konkan world artistes to Dubai Konkan community over the past ten years. This year too, the legendary troupe is back in action to render the mellifluous songs of the late ‘Konkan Kogul’ and SMKC Dubai will provide the best in its organization as usual”.
