CJ Likens Mangalore Attack to Guwahati Molestation

Bangalore, Aug 2 (DHNS): Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Vikramajit Sen on Wednesday said that the Mangalore attack on girls was similar to the recent molestation of a girl in Guwahati by a mob. He observed that the Mangalore incident brought shame to everybody.

Hearing a Public Interest Litigation filed by senior advocate S Vasudeva, Justice Sen issued notices to the Home Department, Home Secretary, Chief Secretary and Mangalore Police Commissioner, giving two weeks to file the reply.

“Disclose the identity of the man in blue,” said Justice Sen while directing the state government to furnish all details pertaining to the investigation.

The petitioner, Vasudeva contended that the incident is fit for a CBI probe as the state machinery had remained a mute spectator to the episode.

Vasudeva said in his submission to the court, “The girls were molested and their modesty was attacked. When the inhuman incident was going on, the government and the police remained mute spectators. Under the Goonda Act, the police had immense power but it hesitated to initiate action against the culprits. My blood boils when I recall the happenings with the girls.”

The petitioner sought to know the progress made in the investigation. He accused the state government of being lenient in its action, although it should have been on alert ever since the 2009 incident of attack on a pub in Mangalore.

We welcome and excellent job done by filing PIL about this issue. Yes, our CJ must have watched this whole episode which is against humanity. I am sure he will give rightful direction and justice will prevail. CJ must take action against Lady Manjula too about her comments. I hope more PIL will file in coming days.

Way to go advocate S Vasudeva, Excellent job.Unfortunately most people are ignorant about this PIL and other constitutional rights.Thats why these PIL's are filed by advocates who are constitutionally educated.Wish more such like minded people come forward and Pressurize the administration to do their duties because our bureaucrats works on rocket principle,Unless the arse is on fire they wont move.Good job, all the best.
