Mangalore: 'Insignia' fest culminates at AIMIT

Mangalore, Feb 26: The valedictory ceremony of the two day fest 'Insignia-14' was held at the AIMIT auditorium, Beeri on Tuesday February 25.

Pramod N Fernandes, group CHRO and head of human resources at Manipal Group, was the chief guest, Fr Oswald Mascarenhas, chairman, AIMIT MBA, Fr Pradeep Sequiera, administrator of AIMIT, Dr Rowena Wright, dean of academics, faculty co-ordinators Prathiba Shetty and Sneha Kairanna, student co-ordinator Mohammed Akram and Management Club secretary Saifudin and Kenneth were present.

Faculty co-ordinators Prathiba Shetty welcomed the guests.

Pramod Fernandes shared his thoughts on entrepreneurship. He quoted 'Build your dreams or else someone else will hire you to build their dreams'.

"Entrepreneurial culture is not predominant when compared to Indian culture. If you trace back, its a typical culture we have brought in. We, Indians tend to be very secure and maintain a comfort zone, we are very cautious before taking any decision. We are not adventurous. India's prime occupation is agriculture. In India, the mentality of middleclass men is all the same- children should be educated, they should get a job and stand on their own feet. We choose our career due to the family pressure and many other issues."

Fr Pradeep Sequiera in his speech said that "whoever enters an entrepreneurship will be successful in his life and quoted 'Business is for people, not people for business'.Many students from various colleges gave their feedbacks on the Insignia fest. In those students, one student said that the fest was 'absolutely banging'.

Fr Oswald Mascarenhas responding to the feedbacks in his concluding speech, he thanked all the students who helped for the success of the fest and support from everyone, and said "There is a tremendous amount of talent in this country but which is being wasted."

Trophies were distributed by the dignitaries to the winners and the overall championship was bagged by the St Joseph college of business administration, Bangalore. The runners up were Christ University institute of management, Kengeri.

The valedictory programme was compered by Alreen Lobo and Preemal D'Souza.

Student co-ordinator Mohammed Akram proposed the vote of thanks and the valedictory ceremony ended on a high note with the National Anthem.
