Karnataka legislators plan tour of Kangaroo, Kiwi countries

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Apr 30: Even as people of several districts in Karnataka are facing severe drinking water crisis, especially in over 700 villages, and the State Government has already declared 125 of 176 taluks in State as drought hit, the State Legislators are planning to undertake a ''study tour” of Australia and New Zealand in the fourth week of May.
While Australia is known for its Kangaroos, New Zealand is famous for Kiwis and people of both countries are passionate about cricket like India.
The decision to go on a foreign junket at tax-payer’s cost was taken by the members of the State Legislative Assembly Committee on Government Assurances at its meeting in the Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.
The State Legislative Assembly Committee on Government Assurances is headed by former minister and Congress MLA from Mysore district Tanvir Sait.
It is understood that the Committee decided to take up the tour of Australia and New Zealand and discussed tour dates and other plans and programmes.

JD(S) MLA and party spokesman Y S V Datta, who is one of the members, told  reporters in the Vidhana Soudha, that he was not interested to go abroad at time when several parts of the State were reeling under severe drought and facing drinking water shortage.
The Tanvir Sait-led Committee of the State Assembly on Government Assurances had its meeting for discussing programmes and assurances of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department following severe drinking water shortage in various districts of the State.
But, obviously, the foreign tour must have taken precedence over the problems of the people.

It is learnt that the legislators, who were involved in hectic electioneering work in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls, planned to undertake tour after the declaration of the Lok Sabha elections results on May 16.

However, it may be recalled that the State Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa had constituted a committee last year following a controversy over the foreign junket of legislators, which resulted in nation-wide criticism, to frame guidelines for foreign tours of legislators.

But the panel constituted to frame guidelines was yet to complete its work.

Though the State Assembly Committee on Government Assurances, has almost finalised plans for the foreign tour, a formal request was yet to be submitted to the Speaker’s office.

It is also not known whether the Speaker will give the approval for the foreign tour.

Members of the Legislature Committee for the Welfare of Backward Classes and Minorities headed by B R Yavagal, former minister, had came under sharp criticism from the Opposition parties as well the public on that grounds tours were undertaken when the State was reeling under drought.

The B R Yavagal Committee members had visited several countries, including Brazil during January last year.

I for one do not blame these politicians. Why do these rogues come to politics? To loot the country's wealth with both hands and to make merry at the tax payers' expense. That is an open secret. If I have to blame someone it has to be the people. We get what we deserve. We have elected these rogues and this is what they are doing. We should be careful before voting. There is no use blaming them now. Why don't we learn from our mistakes? Instead of that, we bend over backwards to keep them on our heads. Whenever we have to get something inaugurated, we look around and try to find the tallest politician and request him to grace the occasion by inaugurating the building or house or whatever. We give them more respect than what they deserve.

This goes into their head and they start thinking that they are our bosses. Actually, they are our servants. The day we people make them understand this, they will listen to us and not make us listen to them. Show these rogues their right place. That is in the dustbin and not in Australia or New Zealand. As long as we the people do not unite and throw these rogues out, there is no future for this country. The politicians will continue to loot and to make merry and we the people will continue to send our comments on Daijiworld which will be like water off a duck's back.

These shameless government servants are enjoying on our public money.
Shame on them to use public money for their enjoyment in the name of study tour. These tours are all bull$%it.
These politicians beg for votes with the promise of serving the public. Once elected, instead of development, they loot the public money. Better deduct the money spent on the tour from these dirty politicians.

    Dear Anwar Hussain, Mangalore/Dubai
Please invite them to Dubai. They can study a lot of things there instead of coming all the way to to Australia & New Zealand to waste tax payers money amounting to crores of rupees. This huge money is meant for development & not for their pleasure trips. To implement basic necessities it is not required to visit western countries, who always believe in Indian culture.

Please don’t waste your precious time in the investigation of their useless venture.
Instead, watch the movement of kangaroos there and see how they reach the heights at ease. Perhaps the lesson learnt will help us to make a world of difference, with a rapid revolution.

Dear DW commentators, many of U r supporting Congress, BJP & JD[S] saying that AK of AAP ran away after 49 days. But I would say our Corrupt legislatures r running away from our State, to enjoy their life in Australia & Kiwi Countries, spending the poor tax payers money amounting to Crores of rupees. Our poor people have no water to drink. Millions go hungry without a proper meal a day. People r begging on the roads, & have no shelter to to sleep. And many of us say the existing parties r managing the situation well in our state compare to AAP. All these existing parties will one day empty the treasury of Karnataka & will run away to settle down in far away foreign countries. And we call them efficient political parties?

    Dear Legislators,
U need not come to Australia for study tour. Every year I spend 6 months here in Australia, a beautiful country, without a single pothole on the roads. No garbage is thrown all over the roads & streets. If U need any information I can guide U all when I am back to Bangalore. Have U all made any arrangements with any local government departments here for your study tour. Any implementations have been made,in Karnataka, by those who came here last year for study tour, spending crores of rupees, from tax payers money. U people r raising taxes on poor people year after year to bear the expenses of your pleasure trips. Don't be hypocrites. U have been elected to serve, & to solve the day to day problems people r facing, & not to visit here, Brazil, etc. to waste your valuable time & the tax payers money. U people r incapable to study anything from here & to implement & to provide basic needs of the people.

Why this study tour? Is there any description, purpose about this study tour?

Any information required is available online anytime on the internet for any study along with pictures and videos. If any consultation or advise is required for any major issues, then an expert has to be called in.

These guys who go on study tour come back and consult Astrologer \Swami for any solutions then what is the use of any study tours to these guys …lol a big joke.

Or over smart …are they preplanning to find a secure place to hide black money which they have planned to make in the coming years as Swiss Banks are not safe hahaha.

Or setup business empire in Australia with black money from here. They think Aussie Govt and Aussie people are fools like here who do not pay or misuse tax money.

They need proper education in English ( to speak and write ) and also on how to use computers and the internet then this study tours. Otherwise, this tour will be a total waste

Instead of visiting the kangaroos, if we introduce the kangaroo style in vehicles move, we can save a huge volume of fuel (billions of dollars), avoid oil subsidies (crores of rupees), eliminate health hazardous pollutions, reduces costs of transportation, multiply the capacities of vehicles, start development and infrastructural projects, create enormous jobs, improve healthcare, education and reduce poverty. We need wisdom to follow the idea and not the tour for entertainment.

None of this matters ofcourse ! For our elected officials and their families, "educational tours" in western countries takes priority above all !
