Mangalore, Jul 9: Hours after a young girl committed suicide by jumping off a bridge at Gurpur, a similar incident was reported at Netravati bridge here late evening on Wednesday July 9. In this case, the deceased was a 60-year-old man.

The elderly man's identity is not yet known.

It is said that he was dressed in white and came walking to the Netravati bridge, and jumped into the river.

On seeing him jump off, commuters who were passing by the bridge stopped their vehicles and rushed to his rescue. However, due to heavy rain, it became difficult to get into the water.

The locals did not give up despite the pouring weather, and in about 30 minutes, managed to bring the man out of the water. But by then, the man had already breathed his last.

Two sides to comment. One is, an elderly person, unknown , not sure what's the tough time he must be passing through. We can assume the reason and comment on that. May be health issues, financial condition or ditched by children... reasons can be anything. Ultimately he won in his attempt. May his sole rest in peace. But another side to comment. What a gesture of humanity. Unknown person, unknown religion / community... but the struggle to save him by the public. wow. really, very rare to see now a days. that shows we still carry the same love and affection towards each other. Some one highlighted Mangaloreans were famous for that. but now, lot of changes. But why don't we all try to get back to good old days. I am sure each one will have some rivalry against some one. but let's not take it along and end up screwing our own lives. IF everybody make the mind, it's not too touch to control. Who ever trying to do such anti social activities, let's stop them. If they still doesn't listen hand over them to law and order. If we all support, even law and order can take respective punishment on these social evils. Now it's not feasible because some one will interfere with some reason, either because of community / religion / money. Let everybody stop doing these, automatically law and order will become strong and everything will be under control. Just praying almighty to make everybody a good human and give them courage and mindset to make our society clean and pleasant.

    RIP.

No one knows, till now he belongs to which religion, he supported which party etc etc. Yet, everyone tried to save him.

'HINDUSTAN' WAS KNOWN FOR THIS. MANGALOREANS HAVE ALWAYS LIVED TOGETHER. HUMANITY HAS BEEN OUR RELIGION AND PARTY.

SHAME ON ALL THOSE LEADERS WHO HAS DIVIDED US BASED ON VARIOUS THOUGHTS.

Why people get frustrated in life so much that they end their life itself ?
Just see our politicians who never get frustrated in life and keep their hopes alive even at the age of 85 that one day they will come to power and they will get ample chance to loot the nation.
