Karkala, Jul 11: A man was murdered at Bola-Nelliguri here late night on Thursday July 10.

The deceased, Suresh Moolya (34), was a resident of Nelliguri.

It is said that on Thursday night, Suresh's younger sister heard screams in a nearby street and rushed out of the house to check. She saw Suresh fallen in a pool of blood, with injuries on his chest, head and stomach.

Even as he was battling for life, he reportedly told his sister that a person by name Ashok alias Pollu Ashok had attacked him before escaping from the spot.

Suresh was rushed to Ajjarkad government hospital by ambulance, but by midnight, he breathed his last.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Suresh used to take coconuts from Ashok's place, and there was enmity between them over this issue. Police said that a quarrel between the two over a petty issue on Thursday night ended in brutal murder.

Karkala police have registered a case against Ashok under section 302 (murder) of IPC.

Ashok is said to be absconding and a search for him is on. Sources said that he faces charges in various other criminal cases as well.
