It may be recalled that recently, thieves had broken into eight commercial establishments in Byndoor area.

The thieves broke into four jewellery shops at Car Street, Koteshwar, namely Prakash Jewellers, Veena Jewellers, Kirthi Jewellers and Prasiddhi Jewellers.

Has anyone heard the expression in Hindi: Sothe raho, Jagthe raho, which our neighbourhood watchman (a Gurka guy, only with a latti, a long banboo stick in his hand, his only weapon of defense and maybe a Gurka knife ... I have never ever seen it on him though, when he used to patrol the street we used to live in Kanpur from 1971 to 1981. Once a month the Gurka Sentry used to knock our house door to collect his monthly security fees of one (1) Rupee) and every thing was 'hunky-dory'). for us. 100% safety in Kapur, a notorious city for robberies, dacoity, murders etc. in those days!

So I suggest, Kundapur residents and business owners should also organize a 'Neighbourhood Watch' committee to patrol the residential and business streets of Kundapur, doing the sme in pairs and with the permission of local police/security personnel etc.

Most of the shops robbed either from Jewellers and or loan lending society. Both are in turmoil. Robber must be familiar with the area or educated to read the placard.
