Mangalore: Police, firemen all at 'sea' as man refuses to come ashore!

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 21: A person, who jumped into the sea near Baikampady Koorikatta here, kept the policemen and fire brigade personnel on tenterhooks by refusing to come to the shore. The man in question has been identified as Ravi (53), who used to work as a cutter in a tailoring shop in Mumbai.

On account of heavy rains in the region, the sea is in full fury. Early morning on Sunday July 20, Ravi jumped into the sea and started playing with surging waves after reaching considerable depths. As the sea continues to be tumultuous, no one ventures into the sea. As such, some locals who saw the erratic behaviour of the person, called the police and fire brigade.

Although he fire brigade personnel arrived on the spot, they were helpless. They could do nothing but keep watching the man's actions and continue to coax him to come ashore. After long time, a huge wave hit him hard. Taken aback, he started swimming towards the shore to save his life, but was found to be too weak and about to lose consciousness when he neached the shore. He was rescued by the people and admitted into a local hospital.

As the man did not have an clothes on him, those who saved him gave him some clothes. Although Ravi appeared normal, he was found to be speaking incongruously. Some said he was mentally deranged due to some family problems.

fire-brigade and police went there for rescue or enjoy the show?. They are simply standing and watching for the waves to take the man into the sea. I think sea itself fed up with rescue people and pushed him up to shore.

Thank God he survived with his own efforts when the fire brigade and police force were just mute spectators on the shore.
It is really pathetic that even in modern times, our police department or fire brigade don't even have a float which they could have thrown at him to grab. Whether he grabs it or not is secondary but both these departments should have the basic rescue equipment.
When our world will catch up with rest of the world?

Few days back here was an incident that someone jumped into a well but found alive after four days and was rescued. (he did not succumb to death wish)

There are so many reasons/complications in life which may influence humans to take a drastic step but survive miraculously.

God created this world for man to lead a simple life and enjoy His Creations. But man has created so many complications that he himself cannot sustain himself to lead a normal life. This affects the minds of poor and innocent human beings who finally end up becoming mentally deranged.Such a pity.

    First 'all at sea'.
    Now 'all is well'.
"Early morning on Sunday July 20, Ravi jumped into the sea and started 'playing' with surging waves after reaching considerable depths."
    Quite a 'player' I think!
Family problems, tensions sometimes does it to many people. This poor man jumped into the sea!

Is he mentally deranged ? Then hand him over to Belthangadi/Ujire Police so that they can fix him in some rape case and lock him up for years just like they did in Saujanya Case and then the Police & Fire Brigade of Mangalore will not have same problem in Baikampadi sea shore.
