Mangalore, Sep 30: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a ‘RTO Kacheri Chalo’ protest in front of the RTO office in the city on Monday September 29.

Addressing the protesters, DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla said, “There is a huge increase in the population in the rural areas of Ullal. There are many hospitals, schools, medical colleges, and many are working in various companies also. Many are facing scarcity of basic needs in these areas. The passengers are suffering the most due to the domination of private buses. We request that along with private buses, public bus services also be resumed as soon as possible. Many protests have been undertaken in and around Ullal area but there have been no results till now. Many fake complaints are being registered against the DYFI during these protests."

"The RTO has to be for the service of the people but has come under the influence of bus owners and is dancing to their tunes. Only one or two bus owners have been given all the permits in the areas of Harekala, Sajipa, Mudipu, and Manjanady. Many bus owners are operating the buses as per their will. Many students are finding it hard to obtain space in the buses and are climbing on top of the bus. Many are getting delayed in reaching their schools or workplaces. This has to be stopped and permits need to be given to others also," he added.

Various slogans were shouted by protesters against the RTO and the bus owners.

B K Imthiyaz, Santhosh Bekal of DYFI, and DYFI protesters were present.
