Bhatkal, Oct 30: Green Valley National School and PU College Annual Sports’ Day 2014- 2015 was held at Green Valley National School and Junior College on Wednesday October 29.

The colourful ceremony started at 10.15 am. The chief guest of the day was P Rajendraprasad IPS and the guest of honour was B G Mohandas. Syed Abdul Kader Bashu presided over the function. The Prefects ushered the chief guest and the School Captain Ruknuddin Husain led the March Past. Guard of Honour was given to the chief guest followed by the flag hoisting. The tournament flame was lit by the chief guest and School House representatives led the relay with the Tournament Flame. The main flame was lit by the chief guest coupled with a release of balloons. Headgirl Jasmin Momin of II PUC welcomed the gathering. The school captain administered the oath and the chief guest declared the meet open.

The chief guest in his address advocated the students to give due importance to sports and games and excel as they are privileged with best opportunities and infrastructure at GVNS. He advised the students to be more dedicated and inculcate the habit of reading and raise the level of achievements so that there is no limit for achievements and advancements. He cautioned the parents not to rob children of their childhood and stressed the need for balanced growth and development.

The Junior School had a PT display while the middle school entertained the crowd with a well-formed sports dance. The Athletic events were held after the inaugural ceremony and the chief guest and the distinguished guests awarded the winners. Mohammed Suhail of Grade X proposed the vote of thanks.
