Bolt starts season with relay win

Kingston, March 1 (IANS): Jamaica's star sprinter Usain Bolt made a surprise season debut as he ran the anchor leg in a 4x100m relay heat victory at the Gibson Relays.

The world 100m and 200m record holder took the baton from world and Olympic 200m medallist Warren Weir and brought home the victory, reported Xinhua.

"For me this was a good run. It was a good blow out in the early morning," the 28-year-old Bolt said of his first race on Saturday on local soil in the past two years.

"I am looking forward to the finals."

The University of Technology ran the fastest time of the day at 38.87 seconds to lead the finals qualifiers.
