French Olympic champions killed in air crash

Buenos Aires, March 10 (IANS): London Olympics swimming champion Camille Muffat was among the 10 people killed on Monday when their helicopters collided in mid-air in Argentina.

Muffat, 25, brought home three medals from the 2012 Games, including the 400 metres freestyle gold, reports Xinhua.

Champion sailor Florence Arthaud and Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine were among those killed when two helicopters, filming the survival series 'Dropped', crashed into each other in the rugged mountains of La Rioja province.

The 57-year-old Arthaud was one of the best sailors in the world, winning the 1990 Route du Rhum, the most prestigious race to cross the Atlantic solo. Vastine, 28, won a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the light welterweight category.
