Karun Nair breaks 68 year old Ranji trophy record

Bengaluru, Mar 11 (DHNS): Karun Nair scored a record breaking 328 to put Karnataka in the driver's seat as the defending champions reached a massive 747/9 against Tamil Nadu on day four of the Ranji Trophy final at the Wankhede stadium.

He became the second batsman to score a triple century in the Ranji Trophy final after a gap of 68 years beating a record set by Baroda's Gul Mohammed.

The 23-year-old was going through a lean period before the final and had only scored 381 runs from nine matches with just a fifty.

Despite going off retired hurt on day one, he returned to steady the game for Karnataka by building a 386 run partnership with KL Rahul. Nair occupied the crease for 13 hours and 35 minutes.
