Mumbai, Apr 21: Judge D W Deshpane of a Mumbai court, announced today that the court will give its final verdict, a fortnight from today on the 6th of May, 2015 on of hit and run case that has actor Salman Khan as its prime accused. The case has been in court for the past 13 years.

In 2002 a case was registered against Salman Khan for driving Toyota car into a bakery whilst killing one person and injuring four other homeless people who were sleeping on the pavement there. Some alleged that the actor was drunk and some that it was the actor's driver Ashok Singh who was driving and not Salman Khan.

The closing argument of Salman Khan's defence counsel Shrikant Shivade was that the accident was caused by a busted tyre and that the actor and his driver were just victims of an unfortunate circumstance. Shivade also asked the court to not take into account the statement given by late Ravindra Patil who was the police appointed bodyguard to Salman Khan, as the defence were unable to cross examine him.

The public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat waived off the defence's request stating that they had been given ample opportunity to cross examine Patil before the eye-witness passed away. Gharat also added that the theory being put forward by the defence was completely baseless.

Salman Khan who was conspicuously absent from court today was expressly asked by the judge to be present for the verdict on Wednesday the 6th of May for the final verdict. His sister Alvira was present on behalf of her brother.
