Raja crashes out of Istanbul Open tennis


Istanbul, April 29 (IANS): Indian Purav Raja and his men's doubles partner Fabrice Martin crashed out of the BNP Paribas Istanbul Open, beaten in the first round by Alexander Bury and Teymuraz Gabashvili here on Wednesday.

The Indo-French pair went down 2-6, 3-6 to the Belarus-Russian duo in an hour and four minutes at the clay court tournament.

Raja-Martin managed to win just one of the five break points they got as opposed to four from 11 by their opponents.

They were second best on every other statistic and managed to win 47 of the 104 points played.
