Future Hope, La Martiniere shine at rowing championship


Kolkata, June 5 (IANS): Future Hope School's junior boys and La Martiniere's junior girls entered the finals of their respective categories in the 43rd K.C. Mahindra All India Invitation School Rowing Championship here on Friday.

Future Hope reached the finals of the junior boys Fours and junior boys Double Scull events defeating St. Helen and Tirthapati Institution respectively at the Lake Club course.

In the final of the junior boys fours event Future Hope will meet South Point High School who in the other semi-final beat La Martiniere Boys after a tough fight.

Future Hope will take on Young Horizon School in the title clash for junior boys Double Scull.

Young Horizon in the other semi-final defeated Dolna Day School.

The La Martiniere girls also put up a fine show moving into into the finals of both junior girls Fours and junior girls Double Scull events.

In the semi finals on Friday, La Martiniere "A" defeated its "B" team in the Fours category and its combined team beat Kamala Girls School in the Double Scull. In the final of the Double Scull event, they will take on Modern High School while in the title clash for junior girls Fours event, La Martiniere will be challenged by South Point High School.

The senior boys Fours event semi-final saw St. Lawrence School defeat Seventh Day Adventist Senior Secondary School and set up a title clash with National High School for Boys.

National High School pipped Khalsa English High School in the other semi-final.
