Renault may quit F1 next year: Red Bull's Horner

Paris, June 8 (IANS): Red Bull team boss Christian Horner on Monday said Renault may quit Formula One racing if the game does not permit in-season engine development next year.

Renault, the French automobile company, supplies engines to Infiniti Red Bull racing.

Renault has a contract with Red Bull and Toro Rosso until the end of 2016. In-season development is allowed this year, but it will be stopped from the next season, reports bbc.com.

To change this position would require unanimous agreement from the other teams and for now Mercedes are reluctant to agree.

Asked if he thought Mercedes would change this position, Horner said: "They don't have to obviously but it is at a precarious point in terms of Renault's commitment to the future."
