Mangaluru, Aug 20: The Konkani puddhara divas was celebrated at Pompei Church Sabha Bhavan on August 15 with a Konkani cultural programme for 3 hours. Fr Paul Pinto parish priest, presided over the programme and the president of Mandd Sobhann Louis Pinto was the chief guest.
Louis Pinto inaugurated the programme and in his speech he appreciated the parishioners for organizing such a programme for the first time. Johnson Lobo the vice president welcomed the gathering. The pastoral programme of the year was inaugurated by the parish priest. Anitha Fernandes the convenor of the cultural committee proposed the vote of thanks. Before the programme the newly designed arc at the gate was inaugurated by the parish priest.
The ten wards of the parish exhibited their talents in various cultural events such as Konkani singing, dance performances and theatrical varieties like skits and tableaux. It was a colourful evening. All the ten wards together as a fraternity with one belief prepared a tasty local delicacy covered over with the turmeric leaf (haldi kolacho patholio) which was served to everyone gathered.
