'Classical dance should feature in Indian cinema'

Mumbai, Feb 4 (IANS): Fashion stylist and actress Pernia Pernia Qureshi, who is also a trained classical dancer, says the genre should feature in Indian cinema.

"Classical dance should have a place in Indian cinema and that's the way to promote it. Films are very popular and dance should be promoted in Indian films," Pernia told IANS.

She made her Bollywood debut with "Umrao Jaan" director Muzaffar Ali's "Jaanisaar", which was released in 2015.

A trained Kuchipudi dancer under Raja and Radha Reddy, Pernia is all set to showcase her dance skill through a dance recital in Delhi on February 12, 2016. It will be a live orchestra with musicians and singers.

"I will be performing classical dance forms Kathak and Kuchipudi. I have been a classical dancer all my life. The whole things are about emotions of love. Exploring different emotions and aspects of what is it being in love," she said.

"I wanted to connect with it so the recital will be showcased as if I am dancing under the moon light. The lighting is that way so the whole setting is romantic and soft," she added.
