Mangalore, Oct 15: Ida (39), a resident of Akashbhavan here was arrested in connection with Rs 1.52 lac worth theft case at Vadirajnagar here.

Theft had taken place in a house at Vadirajnagar after threatening an elderly lady and the housemaid who were living in the house.  Police enquiry brought to light an interesting fact that the housemaid, Ida was involved in hatching the theft plan and executing it through her accomplices.

Ida had joined the said house as housemaid a couple of months ago.  It is said that one of the accused in the present theft case had actually worked has broker in this.

Theft had taken place in broad daylight on October 9. Gulabi (80) who was living in the house was threatened with life along with Ida.  Thieves had entered the house wearing helmets.  This had made it clear that they were familiar faces to the house owner and in order to hide their identity, they had worn helmet. Moreover, Ida had not resisted them and had not even shouted for help while the thieves decamped with ornaments and cash worth Rs 1.52 lac.

Basing on this point, police carried on their investigation and when Ida was questioned, she spilled the beans.  Accordingly she was arrested and was produced in the court.  Police are now trying to nab her two accomplices who were directly involved in theft.
