Mangalore Oct 16: A ‘Stand-Up & Speak Out’ pledge taking ceremony will be conducted by the Art of Living (AoL) Family jointly with United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC) against poverty here on Wednesday October 17 at the Canara Girls High School Grounds in Dongerkery at 6 pm, stated a press release. It will be followed by a ‘Mega Masti Satsang’ by singers, who will be accompanied by a renowned orchestra.

The said pledge is a key project of the United Nations to support citizens’ efforts to remind their governments for achievement of Millennium Goals (MDG’s) for 2007. The MDG’s consists of a set of eight goals viz., to eradicate extreme poverty, ensure primary education, promote gender equality, improve health of mothers and children, combat HIV/AIDS, protect environment and create global partnership for development.

Year 2007 marks the halfway point to achieve MDG’s. B N R Rao of VVKI centre here in this context states in the press release “We will get together on October 17 for taking the pledge to raise awareness on the goals.”
