Mangalore, Nov 27: Convocations are important as they are the most memorable moment in one's life. It is not just an occasion where one's credentials will be examined and degree will be conferred rather the awardees gain identity on the occasion, Prof K Sadashiva Shetty, dean, Bapuji Dental College, Davanagere said here on Monday November 26.
 
He was delivering the inaugural address on the occasion of eighteenth graduation day ceremony of AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Science held inthe college premises at Derlakatte.
 
Men are capable of doing new things, hence they should not involve in mere repetitions of the things done or achieved by their ancestors or elders. Rather they should be the creators of new. One should aim at imbibing moral values and patriotic values, he added.
 
God loves one who shows gumption and tenacity. No amount of money will give the magnitude of satisfaction that is derived from the duty which is well discharged.
 
Quality of education is suffered in colleges, as there is dearth of qualified teachers. Educational institutions and managements have been constrained to compromise on quality in order to fill the vacancies in institutions. Teaching has not remained passion any longer, it has turned to be a profession instead, he lamented.
 
Under-graduation and post-graduation students in the various discipline of dentistry were conferred with respective degrees on the occasion under the administration of Prof Amitha Hegde, dean, students’ welfare.

She also administered oath taking ceremony before the declaration that the awardees have successfully completed their academics dean.
 
Prof N Shridhar Shetty, director, Speciality training centre of the college, Prof B Rajendra Prasad, principal and dean of the college, Prof US Krishna Nayak, dean Academics and others were present on the occasion.
