Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (GA)

Mangalore, Nov 30: A SSLC student of NMPT high school near Panambur here ended her life by hanging herself from the roof of her house on Thursday November 29 evening.

Sharmila D'Souza (16), a local girl studying in NMPT high school had failed in an exam earlier.  But she had recovered from that shock and was quite normal with her family members as well as classmates.

But on Thursday she hung herself using her mother's sari.  Her parents own a canteen at Panambur and they come home only after 7.30 pm.  Even on Thursday it was the same.  But when they entered the house, they found their daughter Sharmila hanging from the roof of the house.  She had not even changed her uniform.

So far no reasons are known for her suicide.  Family sources said that there was nothing abnormal in her behaviour these days which could have suggested that she was pondering to commit suicide.  The Panambur police sources said that there could be some other reason than studies owing to which Sharmila took this extreme step to end life.
