Mangalore: 'Every Doctor Needs to Work Round the Clock'

Mangalore, Nov 30: It is essential for the doctors to work around the clock, in order to ensure better services, said Dr Heinz Lubbe, president, Deutsche Cleft-Kinder-Hilfe e . (DCKH, a German Children’s Aid Society), here.

He was addressing the media persons after inaugurating ‘Kimaaya Craniofacial Centre’ at the city-based Yenepoya hospital on Friday November 30.   

Here, children are the beneficiaries of the service. Participation of local doctors is highly essential in the treatment of the deformity. The availability of doctors is very important till the end of successful operation, he added.

"We are functioning in seven countries including India. The joint venture will definitely be a milestone in the history of the city," he further said.

‘Maaya Foundation’ is a registered charitable trust, dedicated to treat the poor and needy suffering from congenital and acquired facial and cranial deformity like cleft-lip and palate and other deformities of skull, orbit, ear, nose, etc, Dr Krishna Shama Rao, president, Maaya Foundation said. 

The total expenses of surgery of cleft-lip and palate costs nearly Rs 12,000.  However, here the poor and needy need not pay a single rupee.  The foundation bears all the expenses including medicine, food and other expenses, he elaborated.

Alexander Gross, CEO, DCKH, also spoke on the occasion.

Tejaswitha compered the programme and Dr Jogi Chugath, project manager of Kimaaya Cleft Center proposed vote of thanks. 

Rashmi Rao, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Maaya Foundation was also present on the occasion.
