Bangalore/Hubli, Jan 25: In a joint operation, the Hubli, Davangere and Bangalore police have taken two students, suspected to be Islamic radicals, into custody on Thursday evening.

This comes two days after the arrest of three students from Davangere, also suspected to be Islamic radicals.

Police seized a large amount of ammunition and cartridges from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Anand boys hostel in Hubli on Thursday.

Police sources confirmed to this website’s newspaper that one of the accused was identified as Asif, a student of BVB Engineering College, Hubli, and the other is a student of KIMS. Police have also confiscated Islamic and jehadi material besides pen drives from them.

Police acted on information they got during the interrogation of three suspected Islamic radicals Shabbir, Asadullah and Mohammed Gous, who were arrested on Tuesday in Davangere, all said to be students of Bapuji Medical College, Davangere.

Based on information provided by Davangere police, Hubli police conducted a detailed search in Hemanthnagar and other parts of the city and seized a huge quantity of cartridges.

According to sources, an Antiterrorist Squad has been rushed to Davangere for further investigation. The police later took the two suspected radicals to a secluded spot to interrogate them.

However, there was no official confirmation from the police. Sources in the Anti-Terrorist Cell (ATC), Bangalore, told this website’s newspaper that a team had been sent after the arrest of three students in Davangere.
