Mangalore: Newly-laid Concrete Road at NMPT Inaugurated

Mangalore, Jan 25: The newly-laid concrete road near Mallya gate of the New Mangalore Port was inaugurated by NMPT chairman P Tamilvanan on Wednesday January 25, stated a press release.

Tamilvanan also inaugurated new Reach Stacker which has a capacity to handle 45 tonnes of containers.

Elaborating on the work done by NMPT, Tamilvanan stated in the release that NMPT has completed the first phase of the the process of concreting the roads in various parts of the port. The Trust is also looking forward to a substantial increase in cargo handling from hinterland.

NMPT is also making advances in the work of extending the 40,000 sq m paved container stackyard to stack 2,500 TEUs, with each TEU of standard container measuring 20 feet in length, 8 feet in width and 8 feet in height.

The release further stated that 107 boxes of raw cashew were brought by M V Kinship Bungar from East Africa. Two new feeder lines Seaway Shipping and Relay Shipping which commenced recently have boosted the movement of containers, the release stated.
