Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 28: Fire was sighted from inside the Kudroli branch of Karnataka Bank in the city on the night of Tuesday December 27 when no one was inside.

It is believed that the accidental fire broke out as a result of short circuit in the front office of the branch.

A passerby who saw flames rising from inside the branch located in the first floor of the building near Alake Bridge at Kudroli called the fire station and conveyed information.

A fire tender was rushed to the spot immediately. Sometime later, another fire tender also came, and both the vehicles got engaged with the task of extinguishing the fire. Both the vehicles were stationed at the spot for long. As it took time to extinguish the flames, damage to things inside the building could not be contained immediately.

It is gathered that the fire did not spread to the strong room area where cash and lockers are located.

The extent of loss is yet to be ascertained. As per information, computer, furniture, files and other things were destroyed in the fire.
