Mangalore, Mar 8: 'Cinema has undergone tremendous changes in the past few years. If we do not adapt ourselves to the changes, it means we are lacking behind,' said Prof Buroshiv Dasgupta, director of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), Manipal.

He was delivering the inaugural address at a three-day national-level workshop on 'Art of Effective Cinematography,' sponsored by University Grants Commission (UGC), at St Aloysius College here on Friday March 7.  

Conception and perception of film making have undergone sea changes. Hence sticking to obsolete way of making movies may not be advisable always and updating oneself in the field is highly essential, he opined.

Education is not limiting oneself to mere classrooms and exams. Students must explore and discover things. They must think critically and respond creatively, suggested Fr Francis Serrao, rector of St Aloysius Institutions, in his presidential address.

Fr Richard Rego, lecturer, department of journalism and mass communication of St Aloysius College, Fr Swebert D'Silva, principal, Ramachandra, resource person for the day, students from various colleges and others were present on the occasion.
