Mangalore, Mar 10: Media has gained prominence in recent times but it has been adversely affected by commercialization. But the media persons should do justice to their job by practicing high level ethics, said Kasargod Chinna, well known dramatist.

Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of national-level workshop on cinematography organized by St Aloysius College (SAC) journalism department, on Sunday March 9, he said that corporate enterprises are using the media according to their needs. Therefore, media persons have a greater responsibility to retain their creativity while not compromising on professional ethics, he opined.

Well known film maker, P N Ramachandra in his speech, said that not only metros, but also ‘B’ cities like Mangalore are getting into the field of cinematography. This has become possible owing to digitalization and media persons should utilize this advantage, he suggested.

Certificates were distributed to the participants on the occasion and Sr Celine Vaz conducted the programme. Awards were presented to best short films made by the journalism students of various colleges.

Fr Richard Rego, convener of the programme was present. Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal of SAC, presided over the programme.

Sandhya D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Madhuri introduced the chief guests. Souparnika Sudheer proposed the vote of thanks. Vandana Kamath compered the programme.
