Mangalore, Apr 11: 'Physicians need to have good heart, a good brain and a good hand,' said Dr P Chandramohan, vice-chancellor of Kannur University.

He was delivering the keynote address at the fourth graduation day of Yenepoya Medical College held at the outdoor auditorium of the institution at Deralakatte near here on Thursday April 10.

Post-graduation must not be merely a continuation of graduation. Students must introspect and choose the specialization that suits them best in post graduation, he added.

Constant learning is highly essential. One must keep himself updated on the latest advancements one's field of expertise, opined Dr Raj P Warrier, vice-chancellor of Manipal University.

Physicians must have strong hold on communication skills as they need to communicate with patients. The failure to communicate may harm the primary aim of practice, he added.

Students of medicine must involve themselves in social works, he advised.

Al-haj Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, chairman of Islamic Academy of Education delivered the presidential address.

MBBS graduates of 2002 batch were given graduation certificates.
