Udupi, Jun 13: Municipal commissioner R N Shanbagh, inaugurated the programme organized to observe World Day against Child Labour and a training programme for Stree Shakti self-help groups on Thursday June 12 morning, at Town Hall. The programmes were jointly organized by child labourers' project department.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, 'We can collectively eradicate child labour, if we do not employ children to do our household chores. Moreover, we must persuade employers to get child labourers enrolled in schools in order to continue their studies.'
Birla Sun Life director Arvind Bhat, district labour officer Somanna, Spoorti Kedoor, trustee Keshav Koteshwar, Kundapur labour department director Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
