Belthangady, Jun 13: A minor quarrel over auto fare between pilgrims and an autorickshaw driver on Thursday, June 12, snowballed into a protracted fight that left five injured besides causing damages to a bus.

A group of five pilgrims from Bangalore had hired an autorickshaw to go searching a member of their group. The verbal skirmishes that broke out about the auto hire charges soon turned into a fight. The locals supported the driver. The pilgrims also resorted to pelting stones. Five locals including Rakshit, Chetan, Sunil and Thomas were injured. The window panes of a bus were shattered due to stone pelting. The police have been investigating.
