Puttur, Oct 27: Pro-hindu organisations called for Kadaba Bandh on Saturday, October 28, condemning the harassment of Hindu activists who were detained for questioning over the recent Whatsapp controversy. The actual culprit, however, has surrendered to the police.

The protest was decided at an emergency meeting on Thursday evening, Oct 26, by the BJP and pro-Hindu organisations.

Krishna Shetty Kadaba, member of BJP District Committee and former President of APMC said, "We regret that the issue took place. But we do not tolerate continuous oppression of Hindu power. About the Whatsapp issue, honest attempt were made by pro hindu organisations, to resolve it amicably. The actual culprit has been handed over to the police. Despite cooperating  with the police to this extent, the police have tortured the Hindus by arresting another Hindu youngster who has no connection to the issue at all. They have also taken four into custody, and kept them in prison for two days, mentally torturing them.

"When Hindu activists were killed in the village, police did not arrest anyone who was linked to the culprits. They have not arrested anyone for the recent incident of desecration of Mahamathe Deyi Baidethi statue. But in the Kadaba issue, police took an anti-hindu stand by detaining the innocent. Protest against these atrocities is inevitable. Bundh and protest will take place simultaneously in Kadaba and Subramanya on Saturday, October 28."

Eminent persons Prakash N K, Sundara Gowda Mandekara, Ramesh Kalpure, Santhosh Kumar Kodibail, Vasudeva Gowda Kollesagu, Girish A P, Damodara Gowda Deppuni, Medappa Gowda Deppuni, Ramachandra Tailor, Yathish Hosamane, Ashok Kumar P, Venugopal Rai, Vignesh Kotari, Dayananda Undila, Ananda Poojary and Jinnappa Salian were present.
