Beltangady: Student drowns in Falguni river when taking bath

Beltangady, Nov 2: A student who had ventured into River Falguni at Bolwady in Kashipatna village in the taluk on Wednesday November 1 drowned in the river. He has been identified as Sachin Poojary (21), son of Mahabala Poojary and Jayanthi couple from Shivagirinagar near Badakody, Kashipatna village. Sachin was a final year diploma student of S N Polytechnic, Moodbidri.

As his college had declared holiday on Wednesday on account of Rajyotsava, Sachin along with four of his friends, had visited Falguni river near his home at around 10.45 am. Sachin inadvertently reached the portion of the river that is very deep and drowned. Although his friends made all out efforts to rescue him, they failed.

Vanoor police sub-inspector, Chandrashekhar K, then summoned services of expert divers from Panemangaluru, identified as Muhammed, Ibrahim, Hafiz and Hidayat. The team searched the river and found the body on Wednesday evening. A case of unnatural death was registered at Venoor police saiton.
