Bengaluru, Nov 5: When noting that former chief minister of Karnataka and BJP leader, B S Yeddyurappa, is spearheading 'Parivartana Yatra' all over the state, former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo, Deve Gowda, wished that Yeddyurappa will also draw the attention of the central government towards the problems haunting farmers from Karnataka.

Gowda said that a type of disease that has become widespread in maize fields has been bothering farmers in a huge way. "Maize grown in about two and half lac hectares of fields in districts like Chitradurga, Davanagere, Ballari and Gadag districts has developed this disease and farmers are facing a crisis. It would be good if Yeddyurappa turns his attention to these farmers," he stated.

Gowda said that in addition to studying the problems faced by maize farmers, he had also requested chief minister, Siddaramaiah, to sanction compensation to affected farmers. He added that he also had addressed a letter to the Prime Minister on this issue.
