Udupi, Nov 7: “The Mane Manege campaign has been organized to strength Congress party at the booth levels. The upcoming election is not just election but war between parties,” said AICC general secretary in-charge KC Venugopal.

He was speaking during the ‘Mane Manege Congress’ campaign held at Congress Bhavan Udupi here on Monday, November 6.

Janardhan Thonse was felicitated on the occasion. He was appointed as the new district Congress president.

“Modi promised ‘Acche din’ for the people of nation. But his governance has proved good only for corporate sectors and businessmen like Adani, Ambani and not for poor,” he said.

“The domestic gas price has been increased instead of reducing. Demonetisation has created lots of pain to poor. In one night, Modi took away all the money saved by housewives and poor people.

“Nearly 150 people have died in the nation by standing in queues for exchanging notes. Prime Minister Modi told note ban was implemented to stop black money. Can he name anyone who was caught with black money?

“Modi is known for his Man Ki baat but not for work. He has achieved just 30% of the promises announced in the election manifesto. Rest of his promises remains in words alone. Modi is trying to divide people in the nation.

“BJP minister says that Tippu was not a freedom fighter. Being a union minister, he should not tell like that. Contrastingly President Kovind praised the sacrifices and achievements of Tippu. It is the biggest slap for its own party’s stand on Tippu Jayanti.

“The well being of all is what motives Congress. There are lots of castes and sub-castes in India. Congress is following unity mantra through secularism. Karnataka Congress will not allow narrow-minded politics to dictate terms.

“Congress will be victorious by collective efforts of all. We are not worried about BJP’s Parivarthana yatra. We are confident of getting majority seats in upcoming assembly elections.

“There are five constituencies in Udupi. Now Congress has three seats in its hand. We are motivated to get back remaining two seats from Udupi district. The election held in Gujarat proved that Modi's ‘hawa’ is getting reduced. Rahul Gandhi is a sincere leader which makes Congress even stronger.

“Around 10,000 families obtained ‘Ujwala yojana’ in Kerala. Modi is getting more publicity by doing less work. I am sure that Congress will win 2019 elections against Modi government. We have to work together for the unification of Congress party. I will ensure that developments will happen in coastal district if we are in power.”

Venugopal was taken by the coordinators of ‘Mane Manege Congress’ campaign to observe the poor performance at 1078 booths. Minister strictly instructed the coordinators to complete the campaign at the earliest.

AICC secretary Vishnunathan, Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA Gopal Bhandhary, block Congress President Dinesh Puthran, Zilla Panchayat member Janardhan Thonse and others were present.

‘Investigating agencies are no longer independent body’

Speaking to reporters on mobile tapping issue of MB Patil, K C Venugopal said, “Union government is misusing its administrative power. This was done to defame the minister and attain political gains. This is a serious issue.”

Regarding D K Shivakumar case, he said, “All investigation agencies are now puppets of central government. These agencies no longer work as an independent body.”

Speaking about Parivartan yatra campaign, he said, “We are not worried about the yatra. Let BJP do any number of yatras, we will not be affected. Our party will come back in Karnataka with majority.”

“Demonetization policy is a complete bogus. Youngsters are losing jobs. BJP said that black money will be stopped. Have they done anything constructive to show their talk? The Modi government is looting the nation. The economy of entire nation has collapsed due to this policy.

“We are here to spread and execute the planning and vision of former PM Manmohan Singh,” he added.
