Mangalore, Jul 28: Catholic Sabha Kinnigoly unit organized a half-day training programme and get-together for the Gurkars (heads of Vado) of Kinnigoli parish. Former president of Catholic Sabha Central Committee L J Fernandes and former Central Committee secretary Valerian Moras were the resource persons.
 
Fr Alfred Pinto, parish priest of Kinnigoly church inaugurated the programme. In his speech, he stressed the importance of Gurkars in the Vado and also in the parish and requested them to serve the people with God's love. In the first session Valerian Moras explained about the mission of Gurkars, moral values, personality and importance of the Gurkars in the vado and in the society. He advised the Gurkars to have self confidence to win over the confidence of the members of the vado. He also advised them to utilize the resources available in the vado and bring out innate talents of members.

In the second session, L J Fernandes explained about responsibilities and duties of Gurkars. He explained how a Gurkar can organize different kinds of programmes in their vado with the help of vado members. He requested the Gurkars to give due importance to adherence to time norms during the programmes duly upholding the culture. Interaction programme was also held on the occasion, where many Gurkars expressed their opinions.

Francis Serrao, president of Catholic Sabha, Kinnigoli welcomed the gathering. Eric Pais, secretary, proposed vote of thanks. Charles Rodrigues compered the programme.
