Through a release, BJP has held the centre squarely responsible for the tragedy while Congress has re-directed the blame on the state government headed by BJP.

BJP district president K Monappa Bhandary has termed the blasts as an effort aimed at disturbing the peace and order in the state and destabilise the state government. He held absence of proper laws to contain terrorist activities as responsible for emboldening the terorists.  The Prevention of Terrorism Act brought out by the National Democratic Alliance, which has since been scrapped by the UPA, was very effective in curbing terrorism acts, he noted.

He demanded enacting POTA again, for curtailing the might of terrorist organizations which are trying to spread their base all over the country.  He has requested the centre to introduce stringent laws against terrorist activities and asked the state government to take measures to nab the perpetrators of this crime to prevent them from committing such heinous acts in future.
