Mangalore, Jul 29: Sumith S Rao of Olympus Refrigeration Inc., Yeyyadi, was elected as the president of District Small Industries Association for the year 2008-09 at a meeting held at the association building in Yeyyadi on Saturday July 26. He takes over the mantle from outgoing president Gopinath Mallya of Ashok Agro Industries. The new secretary is Sashi Kumar M B of Manorama Graphics. Sudhir Prabhu of Deepa Packers has been appointed as the new treasurer of the association.

Outlining his priorities for the association, Sumith Rao said he proposes to set up an employment agency through the association in order to help ease the acute labour problem faced by the industries. Improving the industrial infrastructure in the district, mainly road network, water and power supply are also on the agenda. The association also plans to facilitate greater interaction between the government and industry, he said.
