Udupi: Retired Teacher Critically Injured Accident near Yermal

Udupi, Jul 30: After a car hit a scooter near Thenka Yermal bridge, a couple of kilometres away from Padubidri at about 7.45 pm on Tuesday July 29, the scooter rider was seriously injured and admitted to a hospital here.

Retired teacher Govind Rao, a resident of Hejmady, was returning after delivering his annual discourse at Thenka Yermal Rama Mandir, when an Ambassador car coming from the opposite direction hit him. The scooter was badly mangled in the incident. Govind Rao, who was tossed on to the car bonnet, sustained grievous injuries to his face.

The local people immediately brought him to a private hospital here, where he was administered first aid. As no ambulance service was available in Padubidri, the concerned had to wait for half an hour before an ambulance was summoned from outside.

Padubidri police have registered a case and conducting investigations.
